Where are Limp Bizkit from?

Jacksonville, Florida. Fred grew up in North Carolina and DJ Lethal is from LA.

When did the band form?

In 1994 long time friends Fred and Sam met up when Sam suggested his cousin, John Otto, to play the drums for the band. Later, Wes was brought into the picture and Limp Bizkit was started.

Fred says ""I wanted the perfect balance between hip-hop, alternative rock, everything I was into."

What does "Limp Bizkit" mean?

Fred Durst once said that his burnt out friend had a brain like a limp biscuit. He is now a roadie for the band.

How did Korn and Limp Bizkit meet? How did Korn help them get started?

Fred was a tatoo artist in Jacksonville, and Korn was in town playing a show

Fred says "KoRn was opening up for Sick Of It All. But uh, Jon was standing out in the crowd ya know and I was just like "You guys are phat, sorry nobody showed up, you guys want a tattoo?" and he was like "Yeah and a couple guys in my band want a tattoo". But I had only been tattooing for like a couple weeks and I lied to em and told him i'd been tattooing for like a long time..we were drunk they were drunk..they fell for it and uh got them back to tha house I drew up this thing that said KoRn and it kinda looks like KoRn but Fieldy was so wasted he was like "Yeah..man..lets do it"..and that was that. And everybody wants to rag me about it ever since then but..I met Jon Davis first then the other guys came to my house then after a couple times meeting them when they came on town I gave em a demo..and..Fieldy gave it to Ross..and Ross started calling and.. "

They then toured with several bands including Korn, House of Pain, the Deftones, Faith no More and Primus among others, and joined festivals such as Ozzfest, and the Warped Tour.

Soon enough the band were getting offers from several labels, finally choosing Flip/Interscope.

Fred says "I was acting like I was my own manager on the phone. I'd change my voice and I'd change my name and was talking shit to all these record companies. Everybody. Just bull- crap, not knowing a thing about the industry, but they were believing me because I'm a good bull-shitter. Then I really needed management because people were flying out too see us and there was no one here to talk to."

What band is DJ Lethal from?

He is from the now dismembered House of Pain. Limp Bizkit were the opening act for HOP during some past shows. When the group went their separate ways in 1996 Lethal joined Limp Bizkit.

Is Fred instrumental?

Yes. He plays guitar, drums and bass.

Did Fred sing on stage naked?

Yes. Fred says "I played naked in France because Jonathan and his KoRn Dawgs decided to give me $500 to do it..and I did it..cuz I was broke..cuz I didn't realize the french money is like crap it's crazy dude so I had no money..I spent like $50 on deoderant or somethin...and I needed money so they said $500 bucks if I got naked and sing Faith, and it was pretty embarrassing cuz my little BoBo has shrivled up into negative form sucked up into my body this was where the helmet took a dive ya know when I was on stage in front of thousands of people."

Why did Limp Bizkit cover Faith?

Fred says "I've always liked George Michael for some reason, but at the same time I couldn't stand him. I told the guys, Man, we've got to cover George Michael's "Faith", we gotta turn it a Limp Bizkit song. This is how I feel the song should be played..

I love George Michael, man. Everybody loves 80's music. Everybody loves George Michael, whether they admit it or not. Something about him was always killer, always smooth. He's just real awesome. George Michael, I felt, got a real corporate push thing and a real glam thing and it worked against him. But you gotta have faith and you gotta believe in it because it's good music anyway. Our music is good music and he just moves me, man. It's just one of those covers that I've always wanted to do. Instead of saying what I was supposed to say in the middle of the song, I screamed "Get the fuck up!" Everybody was sitting down in the studio when I was recording the song and I looked at everybody and said it and everybody got up and started jumping and moshing in the studio, right in the vocal room. It was awesome, man. It was that release. I just want people to take a second look at George. A lot of people think he's some cheesy guy."

On George Michael's opinion of the song Fred says "I heard that he loves the song. We asked him to perform "Faith" with us on New Year's, but George thought he might come off looking funny. I wouldn't make fun of him. I grew up on his stuff, from the Wham! Days. He always looked good, had supermodels in his videos. I didn't know he was gay - that didn't matter to me."

What is Significant Other?

Fred says "'Significant Other.' It's, like, such a title, you know what I mean?" Durst began. "There's no limits to what it means. Anything it was before -- record, band, attitudes, feelings -- it's the significant other. This is... the new level. Whether it's a lower level or a higher level, we'll let our fans determine that."
