Nottingham

Profile
Leeds boss David O'Leary swooped for Darren Huckerby a week after the departure of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to Atletico Madrid and the 23 year old England B international became the then United record signing after agreeing to a move and a five year contract, that will take the fee to £5.5M subject to add ons.
Despite being limited to only 11 first team starts, Darren was happy to play a vital role in the United squad that ended with qualification for the Champions League and a UEFA Cup run that took the club all the way to the semi-finals.
Darren fitted the Leeds profile perfectly, being young English and talented, as DO continues to build a squad that will challenge the might of the Premiership and Europe over the next few years.
Born in Nottingham, Huckerby started his career at Lincoln, before joining Kevin Keegan's for £400,000 Newcastle in 1995.
A year later he was heading out of St James' Park, when the Magpies decided to dispense with their reserve team and Coventry City stepped in with a £1M bid to take Darren to Highfield Road.
After scoring 14 goals in 34 appearances for the Sky Blues in the 1997/98 season, including a hat-trick against Leeds at Elland Road, the next season proved not to be as fruitful, as his goal tally slumped to just nine goals in the same amount of league games.
An England U-21 and B international, blessed with lightening pace and an eye for goal, Leeds have added another star of the future a and Darren's partnership upfront with the likes of Harry Kewell, Michael Bridges and Alan Smith looks set terrorise defences in the Premiership and abroad for years to come.
